Wanna See the Cubs Play in the NLDS?

Enemy territory could be your best chance to catch the Cubs in the NLDS

With some creative planning, luck and a willingness to travel to St. Louis, the costs of seeing the Cubs play in the NLDS will be much cheaper than catching the home games at Wrigley Field.

As is common with teams that compete perennially for the World’s Championship, tickets for the five-game NLDS lose some of their luster and are not in a terribly high demand.  The games will certainly be sold out but tickets on the secondary market will not necessarily command outrageous prices.  It is no secret that Cardinals fans - the self-proclaimed “best fans in baseball” - have had the pleasure of watching their team experience success on baseball’s biggest stage for years.  Accordingly, sustained success has resulted in some apathy towards the NLDS.

Their apathy is our opportunity, however.  While the times are not yet set, Games 1 and 2 of the NLDS are scheduled to take place on Friday, October 9th and Saturday, October 10th, respectively.  Should the Cubs make and win the play-in game against the Pirates on October 7th, they will travel to St. Louis for Games 1 and 2.

While you can expect prices for NLDS games at Wrigley field to command huge money - $250 minimum to get yourself in the ballpark? – the NLDS tickets for the Cardinals are widely available on Stubhub.com for less than $80!

A wide range of hotel rooms are also available on Hotels.com, including a few nice spots within a mile from Busch Stadium with rates less than $175 per night.

With all of this in mind, you could easily travel to St. Louis - grab tickets, a hotel walking distance from the ballpark and cover your gasoline, food and drinks - for less than it would cost to buy 3-4 tickets to a game at Wrigley Field.  And if, God forbid, the Cubs do not make it, simply cancel your room reservations and dump your tickets back on Stubhub.

Cubs fans always travel well and this would be a great opportunity to stick it to the Cardinals fans!
